Part 2 Glamis Castle Walled Garden Restoration Project

Well here we are a week on from my last post and most of the snow has gone in the walled garden, so it was great to get planting plants.

As you all know a lot of prep work had been done ready for plants and behind the scenes seeds were sown in the potting shed and seedlings potted in in glasshouse. Now we really need some heat to bring everything to life.

It was great for Karen and I today as we got to enjoy playing in the garden.

The beautiful gates, they are so impressive.

And then we had a break for lunch and a walk through the Pinetum which is a lovely walk.

  1. The both of you certainly have been busy Kath!
Do you work to a planting scheme laid out by the staff or do you decide on design yourselves?
A bit of heat will certainly make all the difference - bring it on!

  6. Wow - look at the size of those borders. Lots of scope for fun there. Gardening on a bigger scale always swallows up an amazing amount of plants - I'm always staggered that the bootloads I take to the school where I garden are just eaten up by the space - so different to the domestic plot!

I look forward to seeing pics when things really start to take off and come into flower. Should be fabulous - anything with alliums always seems to work brilliantly in June.

  8. WOW is the best word to describe this project! What a big amount of space to be planted! Best wishes for creating a very special garden in such a magical place. And the giant tree makes me drool with envy. Amazing.
